Winged Liquid Liner on Mature/Hooded Eyes, with Video

I filmed another up-close view using liquid liner to create a wing shape on my somewhat hooded or "mature" eyes (different than a hooded monolid).

(video link here)

I created the look using the very easy to apply NYX Super Fat Eye Marker, sadly the lasting power and durability isn't good at all.  I would not recommend it, unless you can get a really good deal and want to practice with a very easy to use marker-style liner.  I can't recommend any other markers with good staying power as I haven't used any worth recommending.

I took these pictures in the evening, a good 6-7 hours after the video but I must confess.  The NYX liner was fading even with my efforts to double-up after letting one coat dry, so before I went to dinner I traced over it with my L'Oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black which has very good staying power.  It's interesting to see how different the shapes look on each eye in pictures, above it seems quite drastic but this is due to blinking and the fact that I have a decent amount of sagging in my eyelid (which is most easily noticed when lifting my eyebrows, all of the sudden a whole new section of liner is revealed).

Here is a fairly drastic wing with eyes closed, on the left eye which creases before the corner of my eyes.

With my eyes open, a good chunk of the outer half of the liner is hidden but the wing is outside the crease.

I promise if I lifted my brows here, you'd see almost double the liner. :)  The wing looks fairly small (and kind of smudged, oops).

And on the right eye, the wing looks a little curled up due to the crease folder over part of it.

So hopefully the extra views plus my actual application, and subsequent cleaning up of my mistakes, helps. :)  Let me know if you have any tips, thoughts, frustrations with winged liner!  I find it to be one of the harder things to do, there's so many variables to consider.

  1. I have the same problem. I think it's best to do is in small easy strokes easier to draw the line.
